Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited, a Mahindra Group company, has debuted its new electric three-wheeler in India on 28th January 2022. Ex-showroom Delhi, the new Mahindra e-Alfa Cargo electric three-wheeler has been introduced at Rs 1.44 lakh. Mahindra has made its mark in the rapidly increasing e-cart category with the introduction of the new e-Alfa Cargo. This electric three-wheeler will be available for purchase at 300 locations around the country. On the e-Alfa Cargo, Mahindra also offers a one-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty.

Based on typical calculations, Mahindra estimates that an e-Alfa Freight has a running cost of just 59 paise per kilometer and that its owner can save up to Rs 60,000 per year in fuel costs when compared to a diesel cargo three-wheeler. The Mahindra e-Alfa Cargo features a 1.5kW electric motor and a top speed of 25 kmph, according to its specifications. According to the firm, it can travel up to 80 kilometers on a single charge.

The unique additional high torque gear, according to Mahindra, allowed for a peak power output of 1.5kW. It also comes with a dual-speed manual transmission with an inbuilt differential that provides a 7-degree gradeability, making it perfect for riding on incline surfaces. The Mahindra e-Alfa Cargo has a payload capacity of 310 kg and a completely digital instrument cluster as standard equipment. A standard 48 V/15 A charger is included with this electric cargo three-wheeler.

“The last-mile delivery industry is experiencing strong adoption of electric 3-wheelers due to considerable operational cost savings vs fossil fuel-powered 3-wheelers,” said Suman Mishra, CEO of Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited, in a statement released on the occasion of the launch. In response to client demands in this market, we are now introducing the e Alfa Cargo e-cart. The e-Alfa Cargo intends to deliver a sustainable, pollution-free solution in the freight category with a savings of Rs.60 000.00 over a diesel cargo 3-wheeler.”
