History of Hero Electric
Hero Electric was founded in 2014 and since then it has been doing very well. The company was started by Bhavish Aggarwal and Surjeet Chavan. Initially, the company was focused on building electric scooters but later moved towards bicycles and other accessories for cyclists, commuters and others. The company has a large fleet of electric scooters and is expanding its sales into different segments such as e-scooters, e-bike and motorcycle accessories.
Hero Electric has been making great strides in India’s nascent electric vehicle segment with the introduction of its AE-75, which is powered by an 80cc single-cylinder engine – with maximum power output of just 10bhp giving it top speed of 30km/h. With a price tag starting at Rs 46,680, Hero Electric will start selling these scooters through their online store in November 2017.
Hero Electric’s AE-75 is one of the few 60cc scooter models to have an all-electric drivetrain that can be recharged in less than half an hour from a 12V DC outlet. The AE-75 is only available in blue color (as of now) and will come with a battery pack that provides up to 300 km range on 6 hours charging time on a 12V DC outlet sourced from 500W charger.
The company claims that the AE-75 is “the world’s first electric scooter designed for Indian roads”. It is also one of the first scooters to be powered by 100 percent recycled plastic pellets (recycled from motor oils).
